Professor Emeritus, Oregon Health Sciences School of Nursing

Oregon State AAOHN Secretary, Past-President

     1941 - 2021

The Oregon State Chapter of the national AAOHN sadly announces the passing of long-time member, friend, and contributor, Dr. Shelley Jones.  She passed away in January following a brief illness.

As a public health nurse, educator, clinician, and consultant with a passion for occupational health nursing, she worked tirelessly for over 50 years to enhance the role of nursing in occupational health and environmental safety.

Shelley saw the occupational health nurses’ professional association as the key to providing the leadership needed to develop, expand, and solidify the nurse’s role in business and to be the network of support and encouragement for nurses.

She held multiple offices with both the Oregon State AOHN and AAOHN; and continued in retirement to participate as a member of the AAOHN Chapter’s Committee and as Secretary for OSAOHN.

Shelley is survived by her sister, Emilie Jones and numerous nieces and nephews.

Condolences or memories can be sent to  OSAOHN Secretary, Linda Meuleveld, linmeu@comcast.net

She was a vital, soft spoken  force, but fierce and determined  in her commitment to her family and occupational health.   She will be greatly missed.

Shelley was definitely a pioneer in teaching and setting standards for Occupational Health. I am glad I had a chance to know her however briefly it was. She was a true leader and inspiration and worked hard to pass on the knowledge and resources for occupational health. We have lost a giant and heaven has gained an angel.

Remembering Shelley is like a moment where you relax and her positive dedicated energy just comes in to your core. She will always be close to my heart. She had more than a passion for Occupational Nursing- she was occupational nursing.. and all I hold dear...I do so miss her.

A beautiful blessed soul I have the privilege to know and work with at OSAOHN. She was a pioneer in the field of occupational health nursing and she will be missed but never forgotten. Shelley your special light shines even brighter now from above.

Shelley was one of my instructors in nursing school. A dedicated nurse to the field of occupational health and the organization. She understood the benefits of OSAOHN and was instrumental in building the organization and growing it’s membership. A faithful believer in Roberts Rules of Order she kept us all in line. We will greatly miss Shelley’s knowledge and expertise. Rest In Peace Shelley.
