Meet Chris Murrell, Occupational Health Nurse.

Complex patterns, eye for detail - qualities that suit Chris Murrell “to a T.” A Nurse Consultant on a SAIF claims team, Chris provides adjusters her expert advice to sort through the medical/health details of Oregon workers’ compensation claims. She is also a member of the Oregon State Association of Occupational Health Nurses’ Board of Directors and the 2022 Oregon Medique awardee. 

Chris Murrell, OSAOHN Treasurer  

A registered nurse since 1989, Chris completed her BSN at OHSU in 1996. That same year Chris joined SAIF Corporation as a nurse consultant. Ever the entrepreneur, Chris left SAIF in 2000 to open her own retail quilting business while still providing occupational health consulting. This flexibility allowed her quality time with her grandchildren. “It was time,” Chris says, “that I could never have made up. Children grow so fast."   She returned to SAIF’s Medical Services Division in 2007. During her time with SAIF, Chris has been a Nurse Supervisor and Project Coordinator, Medical Programs Manager, and Nurse Consultant. SAIF is known for its support for employee professional development. Chris says, “I have a wonderful job, work with a great team and have support to always grow and improve my practice. SAIF is a first-class place to work.” 

Through it all, Chris has been an active member of OSAOHN. She has served on the Board of Directors a number of times over the years. Currently she is the Chapter’s Treasurer. Her eye for detail has assured OSAOHN’s books are balanced. Her skill at complex systems allows the Chapter to meet the 503c Not-for-Profit Oregon Corporation reporting requirements.    

In recognition of her expertise in occupational health and service to the Chapter, Chris is the 2022 recipient of the Medique Leadership award. This award recognizes productivity, motivation, commitment, initiative and creativity in the occupational health role.
