Preventing Workplace Violence in the Healthcare Environment

Posted over 1 year ago by Kate Wood

It is shocking to many that violence in healthcare settings have become far to frequent events. Join us at the 2023 Oregon Governor's Safety and Health (GOSH) Conference to meet Mark SOHM, a 13-year veteran of healthcare security.

Mark is currently the Workplace Violence Prevention Program Manager for Legacy Health in Portland. He is a certified instructor in de-escalation and defensive tactics. Mark will explore the current state of healthcare violence. He will share metrics and categories used by Legacy Health and the structure of their program. Learn key risk factors and mitigation strategies - both personal and organizational.

Mark intends to move from a theoretical discussion to safer, practical solutions. Hear how to design safer workspaces, identify violence predictors, appropriate response to escalating situations and practical habits to increase your personal safety.

GOSH 2023 is happening March 6 - 9, 2023 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. Registration is now open at oregongosh.com

Visit the Oregon State Association of Occupational Health Nurses (OSAOHN) booth in the Exhibit Hall. Join us Wednesday evening for a Networking Happy Hour.
