Back to the Future: Insights to Combat Conditions Caused by COVID-19

Posted about 1 year ago by Kate Wood

For some even a mild SARS CoV-2 infection left lingering, often vague but debilitating effects. Many people recover over time. But for some, infection has caused an increasing list of persistent health problems, initially called “Long COVID.”

This “long COVID” has caused enough concern that it has now been formalized under the diagnosis of Post-Acute Sequelae of COVID-19 or PASC. People with PASC demonstrate a wide variety of symptoms that are often subjective. This has left employers with challenges to determine insurance coverage, job modifications and potential risks related to ADA/ADAAA issues.

While PASC is still being researched, employers and workplace health and safety professionals can apply the lessons managing other chronic conditions to address employee limitations and restrictions. Join Dr Dan Jolivet, Ph.D., Licensed Clinical Psychologist with The Standard Insurance Company at the Oregon Governor’s Occupational Safety and Health (GOSH) conference March 6 – 9, 2023 at the Oregon Convention Center. As the Workplace Possibilities Practice Consultant for the past 6 years, Dr. Jolivet has more than 40 years providing clinical psychology services. He has written about and presented on COVID and “long COVID” since the beginning of the pandemic.

Learn more about the symptoms of PASC. Learn the new research on the potential causes and treatments. Learn how you can use the lessons of managing chronic illness to minimize ADA/ADAAA risks. Registration is now open at oregongosh.com

Oregon State Association of Occupational Health Nurses (OSAOHN) looks forward to Dr. Jolivet’s presentation on this important topic for OHNs and Workplace Health managers.

Visit the OSAOHN information booth in the Exhibit Hall. Join us at the OHN Networking event. Request CE for this and many of the other valuable presentations offered at GOSH, the largest workplace safety and health conference in the pacific northwest.
