Oregon State Association of Occupational Health Nurses

Celebrate Occupational and Environmental Health Nurses Week April 7-13, 2024

Posted about 1 month ago by Kate Wood

On April 12, 1942, 300 nurses from 16 states founded the American Association of Industrial Nurses (AAIN), the predecessor to AAOHN. Oregon State Association of Occupational Health Nurses (OSAOHN) joins Occupational and Environmental Health Nurses across the country celebrating Occupational Health Nurses (OHN) Week, April 7 through 13.

Thousands of OHNs work promoting and protecting the health of workers in the US and around the globe.

OHNs provide case management, coaching and health counseling, health promotion and wellness activities for workers in all industries.

OHNs, partnering with fellow workplace safety and health professionals, are involved in legal and regulatory compliance, and workplace hazard detection and mitigation.

OHNs all work to improve the health of employees and contribute to a healthy bottom line for businesses.

This year is OSAOHN's 50th Anniversary as the Oregon Chapter of AAOHN.

  • On April 11 we will join ASSP- Columbia Willamette Chapter to hear an update on the drugs of abuse affecting health and safety in our communities and workplaces from Nurse Anne Duncan of the Oregon Poison Center.

  • We are partnering with AOHP to bring sessions related to Occupational Health and Healthcare Industry safety issues to the 2025 Oregon Governor's Occupational Safety and Health (GOSH) conference.

  • April 25 and 26 in Eugene Oregon, OSAOHN will promote Occupational Health Nursing practice at the Oregon Center for Nursing’s first Nursing Transitions conference.
