Revised Hazard Communicaiton Standard: Workers not only have a right to know, but also a right to understand.
Posted 2 months ago by Kate Wood in Occupational Health
Since the 1980s OSHA has required business to inform employees about the hazardous materials they encounter in the workplace. World trade, international markets and varied terminology and standards has made this a challenge.
In May of 2024 a final rule revising the Hazard communication standard was issued. According to OSHA, "This update to the Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) will provide a common and coherent approach to classifying chemicals and communicating hazard information on labels and safety data sheets."
It will affect Hazard Classification, Labeling, Safety Data Sheets and Employee Training.
